About

A memory tray for working context.

Refetch is a small, native macOS utility for developers doing AI-assisted work. It exists to solve one problem well: the useful fragment you find mid-task, and lose by the time you need it.

The problem

Working across ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, browsers, terminals and documentation, you keep meeting things worth keeping. A prompt that finally worked. The one CLI command with the right flags. A code block, a post whose picture was the point, a doc page you will need again on Thursday.

Every existing place to put those things costs you something. Bookmarks keep the URL and lose the reason. Clipboard history is passive, temporary and noisy. Notes want you to organize before the idea has earned it. Chat history scatters context across tools. And a bare link is unrecognizable a week later.

What Refetch does instead

One keystroke from anywhere opens a slim capture window. Paste, save, keep working. The item is committed to disk before any network work starts. Later, a type-aware row shows the smallest preview that makes it recognizable in a second: the real image from that post, the highlighted code, the domain glyph. Copy returns the original payload, unchanged.

Recognition matters more than filing. Refetch does not ask you to tag, sort or organize anything. Items are resources you keep, not obligations you clear.

What it is not

  • Not a todo list. Nothing is ever marked done.
  • Not a clipboard manager. Nothing is collected in the background.
  • Not a read-later service, a bookmark manager, or a second brain.
  • Not a dashboard that needs maintenance, tagging or inbox zero.

How it is built

Native SwiftUI and AppKit, system materials and controls, and a measured performance contract: a deterministic 10,000-item benchmark that every change has to keep passing. The numbers on the front page are those measurements, not estimates.

Local-first is not a feature toggle. There is no account, no sync, no telemetry and no server holding a copy of anything you saved. The whole of Refetch lives in a folder on your Mac.

Who makes it

Refetch is made by Stian Larsen at Larsen Utvikling, a one-person software company in Norway. It is sold as a one-time purchase through Lemon Squeezy, the merchant of record.
